MyoSuit

Scenarios for a Wearable supporting Walking

MyoSuit project aims to further develop and implement soft wearable exoskeleton that can support and motivate daily activities of people with various mobility impairments. We will develop different scenarios for the use of MyoSuit together with prospective users and experts from movement sciences, rehabilitation, ethics and design. Through the MyoSuit case study, we will apply novel participative and ethnographic design methodologies and develop key guidelines for wearable exoskeleton technology supporting people with mobility impairments.

The mobility impairments are often the results of a neurological injury such as a stroke, one of the leading causes of disability in the developed world. Post-stroke recovery involves long term rehabilitation through exercises that are most often performed in a clinic or a hospital. MyoSuit can be used both in acute care units as well as in everyday activities. It also can enhance physical activities for older adults with walking difficulties.

In this project we will develop different scenarios for the use of MyoSuit together with prospective users and experts from movement sciences, rehabilitation, ethics and design. Through the MyoSuit case study, we will apply novel participative and ethnographic design methodologies and develop key guidelines for wearable exoskeleton technology supporting people with mobility impairments.
