Almer Connect

Augmented reality remote assistance application

Augmented Reality (AR)– and it's kin XR, VR, MR & co – hold the potential to fundamentally alter how we interact with content and will introduce a major shift from mobile to seamless interactions. AR glasses already enable simultaneous perception of reality and virtually superimposed additional information.
However, current AR glasses either have few application possibilities that differentiate them from a smartwatch or their heavy and bulky design is limiting
their use in an everyday context.

To drive innovation in industrial customer support, the Swiss Startup Almer is developing AR glasses to connect frontline technicians with remote experts. This research project explores new interaction and interface concepts for AR-enabled remote assistance applications. The key to a more symbiotic relationship between humans and machines is one where the impact of technology is ‘felt’, as opposed to just seen.
